Most conversations about institutional change start in the wrong place: tools, budgets, org charts, mandates, transformation slogans. Those things matter, but they're downstream. Institutions become intelligent when they're designed to perceive reality clearly, move knowledge where it matters, allocate judgment responsibly, remember what they learn, coordinate action across boundaries, and remain legitimate to the people they affect.
So this isn't AI adoption in the narrow sense. It isn't a leadership seminar detached from operating systems, and it isn't a management course that treats governance and legitimacy as afterthoughts. It's a course about the redesign of institutions themselves.
Intelligence stopped living in one place.
The intelligence of an institution is no longer a property of a few experts or a piece of software sitting where the org chart says it should. It's distributed — across people, teams, systems, partners, and machine-supported environments. That shift is the opportunity. It's also the problem: when judgment is spread across humans and machines, who is actually responsible, and how does an institution keep its authority legible?
It's also why so many capable, well-staffed institutions still fail to think clearly. Intelligence breaks down not from a shortage of smart people, but from inherited assumptions, structural blind spots, and the slow substitution of procedure for judgment. Redesign has to begin with an honest diagnosis of how older forms constrain present thinking.

This is an advanced course. It works best after First-Principles Thinking (which builds conceptual discipline) and Trust, Risk, and Governance in Agentic Systems (which builds oversight discipline) — and it turns that combined discipline into redesign capability.
